Implementing cooperation on Future
Internet and ICT Components between
Europe and Latin America

The Mexican Technology Platform (MTP) is an outstanding outcome of the FIRST project, being this a collaborative initiative funded by the European Commission Seventh Framework Program in order to foster International Cooperation in technological areas such as Future Internet, ICT Components and systems between Europe and Latin America.

FIRST aims to extend the concept of European Technology Platforms (ETPs) to Latin American, by means of gathering strategic stakeholders from diverse areas, such as Future Internet, and ICT Components & Systems, into one national ICT Technology Platform per country, in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico.

As a result of FIRST, the MTP is currently in its implementation phase, having more than 100 members coming from the whole Mexican territory, distributed as follows: 13 research centers, 13 universities, 11 large companies, 109 SMEs and 17 other institutions. This effort includes the participation of the main ICT Mexican Cluster as follows: CsoftMty (Nuevo Leon State), IJalti (Jalisco State), InteQsoft (Queretaro State), Ver@cluster A.C. (Veracruz State), Prosoftware (Mexico City) among the most important, as well as the country’s most representative public institutions.

The Mexican Technology Platform will be in contact with the members of the European Technology Platforms (ETPs) and with all those companies wanting to find a Mexican partner, creating a bidirectional flow of ideas from Europe and from Mexico, in order to develop innovation projects for the FP7 or other funding programs.

Initially, the MTP is comprised by the following thematic working groups (TWG): ARTEMIS-MEX (embedded Systems), eMobility-MEX, EPoSS-MEX (Smart Systems), NEM-MEX (Network and Electronic Media), NESSI-MEX (Software and Systems Initiative).
