Implementing cooperation on Future
Internet and ICT Components between
Europe and Latin America
Latin American Technology Platforms (LATPs) are the extensions and adaptations to Latin America, of the already successful story of European Technology Platforms. With the support of EC FP7, though the project FIRST, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico have launched one Technology Platform per country focused on Future Internet, ICT components and systems:
- PLATA: The Argentine Future Internet Technology Platform.
- BRAFIP: The Brazilian Future Internet Technology Platform.
- Machi: The Chilean Future Internet Technology Platform.
- RECIIF: The Colombian Future Internet Technology Platform.
- MTP: The Mexican Future Internet Technology Platform.
The goal of LATPs is to facilitate an efficient networking and collaboration with ETPs in order to foster joint research initiatives between European and Latin American entities from the ICT field (Future Internet, ICT Components and systems) within the scope of the Framework Programme and other relevant projects
Each one of the National LATPs will have a Working Groups structure aligned with European Technology Platforms thematic focus in such a way that the networking and the identification of appropriate counterparts will be more efficiently conducted thanks to the LATPs.
